Ingredients
Scale
1 cup cake flour
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup egg whites (about 4 large eggs)
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon pink food coloring
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Sift together the flour, half of the sugar, and salt in a bowl.
In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy, then add the cream of tartar and beat until soft peaks form.
Gradually add the remaining sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
Fold the flour mixture into the egg whites gently.
Add the vanilla, almond extracts, and food coloring, folding gently until combined.
Pour the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.
Bake for 30-35 minutes until the cake is golden and springs back when pressed.
Invert the pan immediately after removing from the oven and let cool completely before removing from the pan.
Serve with whipped cream and berries if desired.
Notes
Ensure that your mixing bowl and utensils are clean and free of grease for the egg whites to whip properly.
Feel free to modify the amount of food coloring to achieve your desired pink shade.
